Like everything else in the universe, your body is made up of both matter and energy. With so many things going on in one’s life, it is possible that you may deal with negative emotions. Perhaps you experience fear or anxiety frequently and haven’t figured out how to deal with these emotions in a healthy way. Living with fear and anxiety can be extremely confusing and overwhelming, making it one of the toughest things to do as it can be difficult to figure out where to seek help.
One way to release fear and anxiety held in your mind and body is through Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). You can start using EFT Tapping in just fifteen minutes to eliminate fearful or anxious thoughts and discover hope and clarity to move forward in overcoming them.
What is EFT Tapping Therapy?
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) tapping therapy is an alternative treatment for physical pain and emotional distress that uses ancient Chinese acupressure principles combined with modern psychology. It enables you to detach from your emotions and be free of feelings that have previously overwhelmed you, as well as aid you in restoring balance and flow to the energy systems in your body.
Use EFT tapping in 5 steps
EFT tapping can be divided into five steps. You can repeat this process to address multiple issues or fears at once and lessen or eliminate your negative feelings.
Find the issue
You must first recognize the problem or fear you are facing in order for this technique to work. While you tap, this will be your main focus. It is suggested that you would achieve better results if you concentrate on just one issue at once.
Assess your distress level
Following the identification of your problem area, you must establish a benchmark level of intensity. An intensity level is rated from 0 to 10, with 10 representing the worst or most challenging. The scale evaluates how uncomfortable and in pain you are as a result of your primary concern.
Establishing a benchmark helps you monitor your progress after performing a complete EFT sequence. Prior to tapping if your initial intensity was 10 prior and was reduced to 5, you would have achieved a 50% improvement level.
The setup
Prior to tapping, you need to establish a phrase, for instance, “Even though I have a fear of losing my job, I deeply and completely accept myself”, or any phrase that explains what you are trying to address. The phrase must focus on two main goals:
- recognizing the issues
- believing in yourself despite the issue
EFT tapping sequence
EFT involves methodically tapping on the ends of nine meridian points.
There are 12 major meridians, one for each side of the body and one for each organ inside the body. EFT, however, mainly concentrates on these nine:
- Karate chop (KC): small intestine meridian
- Top of head (TH): governing vessel
- Eyebrow (EB): bladder meridian
- Side of the Eye (SE): gallbladder meridian
- Under the Eye (UE): stomach meridian
- Under the Nose (UN): governing vessel
- Chin (Ch): central vessel
- Beginning of the Collarbone (CB): kidney meridian
- Under the Arm (UA): spleen meridian
Test the final intensity
After your sequence, grade the level of intensity you used on a scale of 0 to 10. Compare your outcomes to your initial level of intensity. Repeat this procedure until you reach 0 if necessary.
If you often find yourself struggling to deal with overwhelming emotions, you should give EFT tapping therapy a try as it a powerful and proven way to process strong emotions and alleviate stress and anxiety.
